AMBASSADOR JEN MCWHORTER
Jennifer McWhorter is currently pursuing her PhD in a joint program between the University of Exeter in England and the University of Queensland, Australia. Using various climate and ecological modeling techniques, Jen hopes to improve our spatial knowledge of coral reef stressors. Her previous experiences in marine spatial planning, ocean observations, and marine policy will help give perspective to climate modeling research.
Previously, Jennifer worked as the public and government relations coordinator at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP) and the Southern California Coastal Ocean Observing System (SCCOOS). Applying her background in coastal and marine planning and management, her main role was to communicate various applications of oceanographic data to a broad audience of users. In addition, she was a scientific and rescue diver for Scripps assisting with wave buoy maintenance as well as other oceanographic sensor maintenance. Jen's favorite product is the Jai Ven Skin Native Sol Sunscreen and Native Warrior Sunstick for long hours in the water doing research. Welcome to the tribe Jen!
